Keep a specific title exception without loosening every filter

First decide whether the exclusion is the real problem

Suppose a search excludes a common phrase that also appears in a desirable collector’s edition. Before adding an exception, check whether a more precise exclusion would solve the problem for every useful listing. A short, understandable set of filters is easier to maintain.

If the exception is genuinely tied to a distinctive model, use a full model name or exact phrase. A broad term such as “rare” or “bargain” can appear in almost any advertisement and is a poor reason to skip your other title decisions.

Understand what the exception actually changes

In Advanced options, choose Always keep a match and enter the title words or phrases. When one matches, it takes priority over the other title require and exclude filters. It is limited to Listing title, rather than being a location exception.

The name does not mean the listing bypasses every search check. Location filters and AI match criteria still apply, and the listing must first be available to the search. An exception cannot fetch a listing outside the marketplace results or turn an unsuitable item into a verified match.

Review the exception when the search changes

Name the reason you added the exception in terms of the item you want. If your budget, target model or acceptable condition changes later, revisit it along with the other filters. Otherwise a once-useful exception can outlive the buying need that justified it.

Use Feed and the available match details to review new candidates. If the exception admits too many unwanted titles, remove it and clarify the AI criteria instead. Separate searches are often clearer when two models need materially different budgets, conditions or compatibility requirements.
