Give the marketplace a recognisable item
Start with an item name and, when essential, its brand or model: “espresso grinder”, “Sony A6400” or “round dining table”. The search keyword goes to the selected marketplace. A long buying brief can be less useful there because a seller may not put all those words in the listing.
Your search name is a private label, such as “Kitchen upgrade”. Changing that label does not replace the keyword. Keep the keyword focused enough to find the correct object before deciding which examples of that object are acceptable.
Give the AI a clear buying decision
Every Flipinator search has AI match criteria. Use that field for required attributes, useful alternatives and dealbreakers: “Complete working grinder for espresso. Cosmetic wear is fine. Exclude replacement burrs and machines sold only for repair.” This expresses the difference between a candidate and an irrelevant accessory.
Keep requirements short and compatible. “Must include a lens” and “body only” describe different purchases. A strict demand for evidence that sellers rarely provide can also make a search quiet. AI evaluates available listing information; it cannot verify a hidden fault, authenticate a serial number or measure something the seller has not described.
Review the proposal before it becomes your search
AI setup can propose a keyword and criteria from your longer description. Read the changes, confirm the marketplace and suggested location, and adjust the practical limits. The proposal does not become a saved search until you confirm it.
Manual setup edits the same search directly. Put numerical budget and distance limits in their own controls, use word filters for predictable title patterns, and reserve AI criteria for meaning. For a camera, a precise model keyword plus “camera included, not accessories alone” is easier to review than a long list of every accessory name.
A practical checklist
- Name the actual item in Search keyword.
- Use Search name as your own label.
- State required features in AI match criteria.
- Keep price and distance in their dedicated controls.
- Read the proposed changes before saving.
Common questions
Can I turn off AI matching by using Manual setup?
No. Manual setup edits the same supported fields directly, and every Flipinator search still uses AI match criteria.
Can AI find listings the marketplace did not return?
AI matching evaluates the listings available to the search. It cannot recover an item that the marketplace did not make available to that search.
Should my criteria repeat the whole keyword?
Only repeat the identity where it helps explain the buying requirement. Use the remaining space for what would make a listing suitable or unsuitable.
